Opening in December 2025 on Matsuyama's Okaido arcade, Blue Wax Winery is Chugoku-Shikoku's first urban winery, launched with national grant support.
Blue Wax Winery opened on December 2, 2025 on Okaido, Matsuyama's central shopping street, as the first urban winery in the Chugoku-Shikoku region. The roughly 430-square-meter, two-story building houses brewing equipment, a shop and bar cafe on the first floor, with a restaurant on the second. It produces original wines from grapes harvested in Takayama Village, Nagano Prefecture, and Kumakogen, Ehime Prefecture, alongside a curated selection of wines from across Japan. The project was launched with funding from the national and Matsuyama municipal governments after being selected for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' 'Local 10,000 Project.'
