Fukui's first winery, Hakusan specializes in wild Yamabudou grapes from the mountains of Ōno, making wines of bold acidity and color.
Hakusan Winery, founded in 1996 in the mountains of Ōno City, was Fukui Prefecture's first winery devoted to Yamabudou (wild mountain grape). Set against the natural backdrop of Mt. Hakusan's foothills, it makes wines known for their bold acidity and deep color. It became Fukui's first winery with its own vineyard when it obtained its liquor manufacturing license in 2000.
