Between Lake Kussharo and Lake Mashu, Teshikaga Winery makes natural, additive-free wine from Hokkaido’s own Yamasachi and Kiyomai grapes — even using onsen water.
Teshikaga Winery, operated by Cenavino, focuses on two Hokkaido-bred grapes, Yamasachi and Kiyomai, drawing on the Teshikaga terroir between Lake Kussharo and Lake Mashu and incorporating a distinctive method that uses local onsen water. Wines are made without pesticides or additives, fermented with wild yeast and left unfined and unfiltered in a natural style. It became the first privately run winery in the Kushiro subprefecture after receiving its brewing license in June 2024.
