Domaine Mont was founded in 2016 by Atsuo Yamanaka, who trained for two years under Takahiko Soga of Domaine Takahiko before starting his own estate in Yoichi-cho, at the base of the Shakotan Peninsula on Hokkaido's Sea of Japan coast — a region long known for fishing and fruit farming. The roughly 3-hectare property has 1.8 hectares under vine, farmed organically with wild yeast fermentation and no added sulfites.
