Hakkenzan Winery, founded in 2011 about 30 minutes by car from central Sapporo, makes distinctive local wines from grapes and apples grown on its own vineyard and by neighboring farmers. Its Koi Wine series, released in 2016, has won international awards. The winery runs guided mini-tours with pickup service and operates Hakkenzan Kitchen & Marché, opened in 2020.
