A brand-new winery below Mt. Usu, licensed in September 2025 to vinify Chardonnay, Yama Sauvignon and Niagara grown in its own Nakatoya vineyard.
Naka Toya Jozojo, led by Kazuo Nagatsuma, built a roughly 500-square-meter brewing and storage facility — with annual capacity of 6,000 to 7,500 liters — across from the Nakatoya campsite in Sobetsu, near Lake Toya. The operation received its fruit wine manufacturing license on September 16, 2025, becoming Sobetsu’s first estate winery. Its debut vintage, made from Chardonnay, Yama Sauvignon and Niagara grown in the winery’s own Nakatoya vineyard, totaled seven red and white wines and about 2,000 bottles. A shop lets visitors watch the glass-walled fermentation room while they taste and buy.
