Born from Okushiri Island's recovery after the 1993 earthquake, Okushiri Winery began with native wild grapevines before expanding into ten wine varieties.
Okushiri Winery was established in 2007 to support the recovery of Okushiri Island following the 1993 earthquake. It began by planting seedlings of the island's native wild grape (yamabudo), before moving into full-scale cultivation of wine-specific varieties, and now grows ten grape varieties.
