Overlooking the Ishikari River in Urausu, Hokkaido Wine's Tsurunuma estate has grown grapes on Japan's largest vertical-trellis vineyard — 447 hectares — since 1972.
Tsurunuma Winery, part of Hokkaido Wine Co., was founded in 1972 on a southwest-facing slope above the Ishikari River in Urausu, Kabato District. Its vineyard spans 447 hectares of vertical trellising — the largest in Japan — where the company is also trialing AI- and robot-assisted smart farming.
