Yamazaki Winery was the first individually run farm winery in Hokkaido to obtain a fruit-wine manufacturing license, in 2002. Every wine it makes comes exclusively from its own estate-grown grapes, drawn from twelve varieties including Kerner, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Pinot Noir, under GI Hokkaido (Geographical Indication).
