A 300-year-old sake brewery in Chikusei launched wine production in 2016, carrying its know-how in flower yeast into the cellar.
Raifuku Shuzou, a sake brewery founded in 1716, began making wine in 2016 to mark its 300th anniversary. The winery draws on the brewery's signature expertise in hana-kobo (flower yeast), the technique most associated with the Raifuku name, applying it to Muscat Bailey A and Merlot.
