224 Winery was founded by winemaker Ryuta Shiga, who began clearing untouched hillside on Shodoshima in 2017 to plant vineyards, opening the island's first winery in the summer of 2022. Alongside fruit from its own vineyard, it also sources grapes suited to each variety's ideal growing conditions to make wine.
