Carna Est, an agricultural producer corporation, began growing grapes in 2014 and opened Kuratei Winery Domaine Yamada in 2020, on a hillside in Kawasaki's Asao Ward, about 25 kilometers from central Tokyo. The winery occupies a renovated 130-year-old kura and focuses on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It also houses a wine school, a wine bar and shop, and the farm restaurant Lilly's. by promety. Under Kawasaki's House Wine Special Zone system, the winery may serve wine by the glass on-site only — bottle sales are not permitted.
