A Yokohama welfare foundation's new winery turns overlooked 'hamanashi' pears and local grapes into petillant, blanc and clairet-style wines from autumn 2026.
Nakagawa Tokusei-kai, a social welfare corporation, obtained a liquor manufacturing license on July 2, 2026 and launched this Yokohama-born winery. It was created to circulate local resources by using 'hamanashi' — off-grade Yokohama-grown pears that had gone underused — along with Yokohama-grown grapes. Sales are set to begin in early autumn.
