Overlooking its own vineyard and the hot-spring town of Akiu, Akiu Winery pairs Steuben, Merlot and Chardonnay wines with Miyagi's food culture.
Akiu Winery sits in the Akiu Onsen area, known as Sendai's 'inner retreat,' on a site overlooking its own vineyard and the hot spring town. Founded in 2015, it aims to make wine that showcases Miyagi's rich food culture, and adjoins a winery café. Tours are free, with a glass-viewing space, and tastings are available from 200 yen; the winery is open 9:30 to 17:00 and closed Tuesdays.
