Fattoria al Fiore opened in 2018 in a former elementary school gymnasium in Kawasaki-machi, Miyagi, run by Meglot Co., Ltd. The winery makes natural, no-additive wines — red, white and orange — from a wide range of grapes including Delaware and Muscat Bailey A (a Japanese-bred red), set amid the satoyama countryside. Its guiding philosophy, in the winery's own words: 'Grapes are alive. Our wine is alive, too... we treat our grapes and wine gently, the same way we treat our friends.'
