Backed by a cooperative of roughly 400 local grower households, Alps Wine blends producer passion with modern technology.
Alps Wine was founded in 1927 and now produces about 3 million bottles a year, among the largest volumes in Japan, working with a cooperative of roughly 400 local grower households. Since 2008 it has also grown grapes through its own agricultural corporation. Its wines are made from grapes including Chardonnay, Merlot, and the Japanese variety Ryugan ('dragon's eye'), sold under labels such as Musée du Vin and Azusa Wine.
