Former professional cyclists, the Iijima couple planted vines in Tomi City's clay-rich Yaehara district from 2014 and opened Cyclo Vineyards in 2019.
Cyclo Vineyards was founded by former professional cyclist Iijima and his wife, who began growing grapes in the Yaehara district of Tomi City — part of the Chikuma River Wine Valley's eastern area, known for its strong clay soils — in 2014, completing their own winery in 2019. The company's name is French for 'bicycle.' Its wines have been selected by restaurants listed in the Michelin Guide.
