Gaku Farm & Winery works from the Matsumoto basin, surrounded by the 3,000-meter summits of the Northern Alps. Founded in 2022, the estate uses its 700-meter elevation, wide day-night temperature swings and scant rainfall — a true inland climate — to grow an adventurous roster: Chardonnay, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Gris and Chenin Blanc. Wines are released in three series, IMA, SEIL and Kar, each aiming to speak plainly of the place. Visits are by inquiry.
