Shinshu Mashino Wine grew out of the fruit-growing tradition of the Ina Valley, developing from an apple-processing cooperative founded in 1987 into a winery known for an inventive, wide-ranging lineup. Its wines draw on Yamabudou, Japan's native wild grape, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Shinano Riesling, a Japan-bred variety, alongside apples and other local fruit.
