Named for two cat-ear peaks above Chino, this Yatsugatake winery aims to outlast a thousand years.
Venus Line Winery takes its playful brand name — Nekomimi, "cat's ear" in French (Oreilles de Chat) — from Mt. Oizumi and Mt. Koizumi, two peaks visible from the vineyard that resemble a cat's ears. Founded in October 2023 at 930-960m on the western foot of the Yatsugatake mountains in Chino, the winery pursues wine that is approachable yet has real character, built around a "1,000-year winery" concept: preventing farmland abandonment and creating local employment for the long term.
