Tokyo transplants growing Nebbiolo and Cabernet organically on a 550m Shioda-daira slope for long-aging reds.
Veraison Note is run by Yuji Nakagawa and Noriko Sakurayama, who relocated from Tokyo to start this young estate in 2014. Their vineyard sits on a south-facing slope at about 550m in the Higashiyama district of Shioda-daira, farmed organically without chemical pesticides. The goal is elegant yet powerful red wine built to age, from long-aging varieties such as Nebbiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. Cultivation began in 2014 and the first vintage was released in 2018.
