Kitani Wine, founded in 2018, is Nara Prefecture's only winery, established with the goal of making wine from Nara-grown grapes in Nara. It began estate winemaking in 2022, favoring a pure style built on wild-yeast fermentation and no filtration. Vineyards use cover-crop cultivation without herbicides, with reduced pesticides and no chemical fertilizer.
