Kuju Winery, founded in 2003, grows and vinifies mainly European grape varieties on its estate vineyard within the Aso-Kuju National Park, on the cool Kuju highland plateau. Its roughly 6-hectare estate vineyard grows Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Merlot; the winery has won numerous prizes at the Japan Wine Competition, including two gold and three silver medals in 2023.
