Katashimo Winery, founded in 1914, is one of the oldest wineries in western Japan. It has preserved the vineyards of Kashiwara while applying fermentation techniques drawn from sake brewing to make distinctive Osaka wine, under GI Osaka (Geographical Indication). Its estate farms with reduced pesticides and organic-centered fertilizer, and the winery also produces spirits and grappa.
