At the foot of Mount Fuji, Fujisan Kitayama Wine grows Japan's own yamabudo-cross grapes to express the character of Kitayama, Fujinomiya.
Fujisan Kitayama Wine is a small winery in Kitayama, Fujinomiya City, at the foot of Mount Fuji. It was the first project certified under the 'Fujinomiya City Fruit Wine and Liqueur Special Zone' in March 2019. Vines were planted on ancestral family land in 2013, and the winery itself was established in August 2019. Its main grapes are Fuji no Yume and 北天の雫 (a droplet of the northern sky), both Japanese cultivars bred from crosses with wild yamabudo (mountain grape).
