Opened in 1985 as Snow Brand Belle Foret and renamed in 2002, this two-site winery pairs barrel-fermented Koshu with award-winning results.
Chateraise Belle Foret Winery opened in 1985 as Snow Brand Belle Foret, taking its current name in 2002 under Chateraise Co. It operates alongside its sister site, Katsunuma Winery, on a location looking out toward the Southern Alps and Yatsugatake. Its Koshu, barrel-fermented at Katsunuma, has won awards at the Japan Wine Competition. Grapes also include Chenin Blanc, Riesling and Schönburger, the last grown on the company's own Hokuto farm for a sweet wine.
