Founded in 1877, Chateau Katsunuma is a family-run winery now in its fourth generation under the Imamura family, handling grape growing, vinification and sales in-house. Its estate vineyard sits at Toriigahira, an area sometimes called 'Japan's Montrachet' and considered one of the country's finest terroirs for wine. The winery produces a wide range spanning white, red, rosé, sparkling, no-added and non-alcohol wines, and operates the adjoining Restaurant Toriigahira. Guided factory tours are currently suspended, but the shop offers free tastings of more than ten wines, with group visits of ten or more accepted by reservation.
