At Daizenji, Japan's only temple winery, the head priest and local parishioners pool their own grapes into small-batch wine.
Kashiwa Budoushu is a unique winery made by the head priest of Daizenji temple together with nearby parishioners. Grapes grown by the priest himself in the temple grounds are used alongside fruit that union members bring from their own gardens, distributed by weight, and fermented in a brewing hut on the temple grounds.
