Lumière has brewed in Fuefuki since 1885, guided by a founding conviction: to make real wine, you need real grapes. The house channels that belief into careful vineyard work and farm development, pairing European varieties with traditional technique and the drive of its younger winemakers. Its 1901 stone fermentation cellar is a recognized cultural property still in daily use, and the winery's history includes a 1909 donation to Nobu Shirase's Antarctic expedition and, in 1943, an appointment as a purveyor to the Imperial Household. Lumière has since collected more than 100 awards at home and abroad, with recurring recognition from Decanter, the IWC, and KURA MASTER.
