Founded in a home garden in 1890, Marufuji Winery has spent four generations making Koshu and international-variety wines as Rubaiyat.
In May 1890, founder Jisaku Omura built a small winery in his home garden. Four generations of the family have since worked steadily at winemaking, driven by the wish to let as many people as possible taste real, honest flavor. Marufuji grows grapes and makes wine in-house, producing both Koshu (Japan's indigenous white grape) and international varieties under GI Yamanashi.
