Sanyo Jozo is a family winery in Makioka, Yamanashi City, founded in 1933 and now run by fourth-generation head Keiji Yamada. Its signature method is field blending — planting several varieties together, then harvesting and fermenting them at the same time. The winery farms about 1.2 hectares of its own vineyards without herbicides or Bordeaux mixture.
