Shion Winery began in 2007 as a nature-education facility for a Yokohama kindergarten, using Kyoho grapes grown in Makioka, Yamanashi City. The winery's aim is to bring family time and color to the dinner table, and it favors dry wines chosen for how well they pair with food. Its labels, illustrated with flowers, have made the wines popular as gifts.
