Katsunuma’s pioneer since 1899, Soryu built its name on additive-free Koshu — a house that once made it into the pages of Oishinbo.
Soryu Wine has worked in Katsunuma, the wine town’s founding district, since 1899, drawing chiefly on selected local grapes to produce a wide range of styles. It is regarded as an originator of additive-free winemaking, a reputation that carried it into the pages of the manga Oishinbo. The company’s name, meaning ‘Blue Dragon,’ comes from the guardian deity of the east. Its direct-sales shop always stocks around 40 wines, from easy-drinking bottles to serious labels made from Katsunuma’s own grapes, including several Japan Wine Challenge gold medalists.
