Made from Takahama grapes grown locally since around 1879, this rare Amakusa wine sells out on preorder every year, contract-brewed in Yamanashi since 2017.
Takahama Wine uses Takahama grapes — a variety close to Koshu — that have been grown in the area since around 1879. Trial production began in 2015 with the cooperation of Yamato Shuzo in Yamanashi Prefecture, and in 2017 the Takahama Grape Association began full production as its own venture, with brewing still contracted to Yamato Shuzo. Output is limited, and the wine sells out on preorder every year.
